Vladimir Nikolov (Skopje, 1979) is a composer, arranger and conductor whose work bridges classical music and jazz. His international collaborations include Metropole Orkest, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the Brussels Philharmonic, as well as artists such as Randy Brecker, Vince Mendoza, Chaka Khan, Jacob Collier and Kurt Rosenwinkel. A recipient of numerous international awards for composition and arranging, Nikolov has headed the Jazz and Popular Music Department at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade since 2018. His new project, Vladimir Nikolov Nonet: “History Now”, brings together leading Serbian jazz musicians in an exploration of history as social concept, musical heritage and personal experience. Ten new compositions challenge established assumptions through stylistic contrasts, unexpected interventions and powerful improvisation, guided by the motto: “Myths are styles, and styles are myths.”
