. Henri Texier (1945, Paris) is a leading French jazz double bassist and composer, and a pioneer of European jazz. His 1960s quintet was one of the first free jazz groups in France. Texier released his first solo album „Amir“ in 1977, playing all the instruments himself. Since 1983, he has released over twenty albums with Label Bleu. He has worked with major jazz names such as Chet Baker, Joe Lovano, Lee Konitz, and many French musicians. Known for his openness to world music, he has a special connection to the Balkans, reflected in albums like „Izlaz“, „Colonel / Skopje“, „Sad Novi Sad“ and „Sarajevo“. He has performed in Belgrade several times. At 80, At 80, Texier remains active, and his latest album, „An Indian’s Life“ – inspired by Native American culture – will be presented at Belgrade Jazz Festival. .
