Composer and guitarist Paweł Mańka (1996) is a notable figure on Poland’s contemporary improvised music scene, known for creative freedom, refined sensibility and densely woven compositions that challenge formal conventions. Recording debut with Semiotic Quintet, “Kubizm” (2021) earned him a Fryderyk Award nomination. His practice extends beyond guitar to orchestral improvisation, algorithmic sound processes, technology and microtonality. Akimbo combines modernist compositional structures, organic expression and live electronics, exploring the tension between opposing forces such as order and chaos, structure and freedom. Its first album is released by New York-based Inner Circle Music, led by Greg Osby. The project creates a dynamic, multilayered musical narrative shaped by contemporary cultural and geopolitical tensions.
