Flutist/composer Milena Jančurić was born in Novi Sad in 1986. She started playing the flute at ten when her brother Milan also started playing the clarinet – together, they had their first stage experiences with the Zvončići children's choir. Later, she attended the jazz department at the “Isidor Bajić” music school and studied classical flute at the Belgrade FMU in the class of Ljubiša Jovanović, wrapping her formal education Magna cum laude in the performing arts at Berklee College in Boston. During her studies, she already had many significant experiences: as an associate of the Berklee Jazz Global Institute, she met Joe Lovano, Danilo Pérez and George Garzone, and as a member of the academic orchestra accompanied the Dream Theater band at a concert in Boston, participated in the Vision of Waves project by an Israeli pianist Yakir Arbib, as well as successfully performing in Boston with author's trio.

Upon returning to her homeland in 2015, Milena quickly rose to acclaim. Already a year later, she participated with an original project in the Novi Sad Jazz Festival main program with Israeli bassist Ehud Ettun and Brazilian saxophonist Gustavo D'Amico as guests. She was among the notable collaborators on Sanja Marković's first album and increasingly traveled to various world destinations: apart from Serbia and the USA, she performed in Panama, Israel, Italy, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia. She released her long-awaited debut album Shapes and Stories with seven original compositions at the end of last year, published by A.MA Records from Bari, Italy, currently the most agile label for new Serbian jazz.
