Markus collaborated with notable figures of contemporary jazz (Arild Andersen, Patrice Héral, Ferenc Snétberger, Florian Weber, Ralph Towner, Rainer Brüninghaus…), wrote music for numerous world orchestras and/or performed with them (The London Sinfonietta, Metropole Orchestra , Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Hamburger Symphoniker, WDR Funkhausen Orchestra, Swiss Jazz Orchestra and Camerata Bern…), plays intuitive music in the duo Moving Sounds with his wife Tara Bouman, and leads the world music septet Eternal Travel.
