Viktor Tumbas was born in Sombor in 1999. He started to show interest in music in his early childhood. He received his secondary musical education in Subotica in 2018 at the vocal-instrumental department, cello module, after which he entered the Faculty of Music in Belgrade at the Jazz and Popular Music Department in the class of Vesna Petković. Already as a teenager, he performed at jazz festivals in Subotica and Novi Sad. He was a member of the band Oktatonik and a guest at the performances of the VH Band. In 2019, he founded his quintet with his fellow students. Employing musicians with experience in various music/jazz ensembles, he achieved a fusion of different influences and styles, inevitably reflected in the music of this ensemble. Notable performances: Novi Sad Jazz Festival, Jazz for Dž. Belgrade Youth Center, Musicology Sessions, Green Town Jazz Festival (Sombor), Youth Jazz and Rock Festival (Subotica).

Just before the premiere performance at the Belgrade Jazz Festival, Tumbas released his debut album Depths for Sequoia Music label, with original compositions for jazz quintet and chamber string orchestra Muzikon. Arrangements for strings, as well as several tracks, were written by Vladimir Nikolov. This record presents the young artist as a big follower of the popular British singer José James.

Viktor Tumbas quintet is one of the five jazz ensembles selected at the first national competition Serbia Creates: The Spotlight, established to provide diverse support to the most extraordinary Serbian musical talents. With the ensemble in the event's program, the Belgrade Jazz Festival starts a partnership with this project.
